O God, you hear the prayer of the smallest child and the most wayward adult. Hear now the murmurings of our hearts. We pray for light in our darkness. We pray that our minds may be opened and that we may be drawn into service for you. We pray for rest in the midst of our hurried lives, that we may experience your peace and be changed from our anxiety.
We pray for the capacity to feel your great love for us, so that we may no longer be lonely or fearful. May your spirit of health flow through us to those who need your love and care around us.
Take from us pride and envy, so that we may look upon the world with joy and excitement. Help us to work for the welfare and happiness of others even above our own.
Teach us to wait with you in quiet ways until your spirit forms itself in us and we are no longer our own but yours. Teach us the life and death and resurrection of Jesus. Then, help us take the risks needed to make a difference in our community and the world.
We hold our national leaders before you. Let those of us in powerful countries care for the people of developing countries. Let those of us who live in plenty reach out to those who live in desperation. Let the architects of the future love the little ones who cannot pay. And, let the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our Christ. So that we may praise you forever and ever, in the blessed name of Jesus. Amen
