Faithful in the Tension: How Hope Holds Us When Life Won’t Resolve
There is a kind of tension that does not solve itself with one good conversation, one clever post, or one more headline. It lingers. Scripture gives us language for living here. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is assurance and conviction, even when we cannot see what is next. Romans 8 does not pretend creation is calm. Creation is groaning, waiting, longing. And the surprising truth is this: the revealing of God’s children does not happen after the tension, but in the tension. Faith is not an elevator above discomfort. It is a posture of faithfulness while we are inside it.
It Matters Where You Start
That posture begins with identity. it matters where you start. Starting with Jesus is not an easy answer that replaces responsibility. It is starting with the love of God that works for the good of all people. When we start there, name-calling loses its power, relationships become possible again, and even disagreement can be held with generosity and truth.
We also talk about why so many of us feel like we are only reacting. The pace of life is unsustainable, and when there is no margin, reaction feels like the only option. That is why Sabbath, presence, and relationship are not luxuries. They are spiritual practices that make faithfulness possible. what the church can offer: not performance, but transformation. A community where people can be who they are, and be loved as they grow, together. That kind of church becomes a mission station in the world, offering relationship, trust, and hope that holds suffering and promise at the same time.
