It’s finally here! Hope.
Ok, hope has always been here. It’s just that this week we’re talking about it. The series of questions you’ve been exploring the past five weeks brings us to a place of hope.
A Future with Hope
In this episode, you’ll hear stories, examples, and an invitation into a conversation to create a shared story of future hope.
Using the examples of longings, losses, and the promise of God you explored in the last episode, today you’ll look forward with hope. No, friend, this isn’t wishful thinking.
This is about remembering the God who walks with us in the wilderness promises to be with us and help us experience new life on the other side of our current circumstances. Hope reminds us that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Hope tells us that God has a brave new ending for the current story you’re experiencing.
Examples of Hope
Right now, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic is at the forefront of our lives. But, the examples of hope in the midst of ministry disruption, thinking we can go it alone, judging others, and our need for community transcend any current event. God’s promise of a future with hope is a truth that transcends experiences. It’s the power of God to ignite a revolution that ushers in new life.
If you’re now thinking, “Wait, is this about our Lenten journey toward Easter or my current life?” The answer is yes. There’s no COVID-19 talk in this episode after I prompt you to consider your future hope. But, you’ll find an invitation to lament, to gather at the table, and to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and actions…and much more.
Four Prayers to Pray During Times of Uncertainty
About 3/4 of the way through this episode, Sara invites you to consider four prayers. Perhaps these four prayers, that follow the pattern of a lament, will invite you to talk with God today. We call them Madlib prayers. Fill in the blank with your answer.
- God, I don’t understand…
- God, please fix…
- God, I trust you with my future, even if…
- God, I praise you even when…
More than anything, remember this: God is with you. There is a future filled with hope.
Your Next Step
Share the above four prayers with others. Invite them to post their responses on social media.
