Episode 090:
Building Courageous Relationships
October 22, 2019
If you’re thinking courage and relationships don’t go together, think again.
This isn’t an extreme sporting adventure. But it is an invitation to consider your most important relationships.
Maybe this is the place to start: Do you know anyone with relationship challenges? It doesn’t have to be your marriage or your kids. It might be your best friend, your co-worker, that new hire that is getting under your skin and you’re just not sure why.
If you’ve ever known anyone to have challenges in relationships, this episode is for you.
For the record – if you think all your relationships have always been wonderful, you really need to listen to this episode.
Drop the Armor
Sometimes in relationships – whether individual relationships or within a group or team, there are barriers that get erected, stopping us from living into healthy, courageous relationships.
What are these barriers?
Armor.
We just heard you ask, “Armor?” “Wait. We don’t live in medieval times.”
You’re right.It’s a metaphor.
Armor is a protective shield we all use to keep ourselves safe. But, instead of keeping us safe – our armor protects us from loving and being loved.
It’s the protective shield you put up to stop yourself from feeling vulnerable. Sometimes you may use armor to hide.
