Episode 084:
3 Steps to Move from Sharing Information to Leading Transformation
September 10, 2019
Information or Transformation?
Have you ever been on information overload? If you’ve ever written a sermon or put together a sermon series, you’ve likely been in this place. But, information overload can happen in school, in our families, in meetings, and even in Bible Studies.
Sometimes, we fall down the rabbit hole of information and forget that what we’re looking for is transformation.
Teachable Moments
This week, Sara shares a teachable moment from working on a Bible Reading plan “Following Jesus Every Day – Courageous Discipleship.”
With over 100 pages of printed material in front of her, Sara began to sort through the Scriptures that pointed to courage. She outlined five big themes that connected to a sermon series and seemed to be progressing in the plan until…
She wasn’t.
Sara realized she had a lot of information, but she wasn’t leading people through a transformational experience. In short, what she had put together wasn’t serving the work of courageous discipleship.
We’ll walk through the three steps to move from sharing information to leading transformation. In brief, these steps include: returning to your why, pivoting, and testing. We’ll also remind you about the importance of relationships– and that’s just one of the reminders throughout the episode.
