Episode 077:
Becoming a Leader Who Listens
July 23, 2019
5 Reasons We Don’t Listen
Listening is a skill. It’s also an art. Listening invites us to be present to the person or people who are speaking. As a result, listening necessitates an investment in a relationship with people.
Tim and Sara explore two big ideas in this podcast: 1) What does Scripture have to say about listening? 2) Why don’t we listen?
We offer four passages of Scripture from the Old and New Testaments that remind us that God shows us the importance of listening.
Then, we turn to five reasons we don’t listen. Tim also wrote an article where he touches on the five aspects of good listeners. Read “Is Anybody Listening?” before or after listening to our conversation.
What would you say if someone asked you, “What’s the number one reason you don’t listen?”
If you want to become a leader who listens, this episode will help you explore the barriers to listen and how you can improve.
